‘Edmond Zi-Kang Chua’s magnificent book, ‘God-ness,’ ‘God-ity,’ and
God, is worthy of being read not only by fellow Christians but any
rational thinker interested in understanding the unique meaning of
divinity. His meticulous scientific analysis based on Late Antiquity
Christian readings, completed by writings from the late British
theologian Colin Ewart Gunton; the late Scottish charismatic
theologian Thomas Allan Smail; and the Eastern Orthodox metropolitan
of Pergamon John Zizioulas, is a deep, powerful, and finally well
balanced, reflection on the meaning of God within the Trinity dogma,
seen not only as a substance, but also a dynamic, almost
interactive, community. Edmond Zi-Kang Chua’s study shall be taken
into consideration from now on within any theological dialog between
Catholics and Protestants. It will help in cognizing also the Quaternity concept that many
17th Century Spanish Catholics, on
the verge of heresy, created with joy adding the Immaculate Mary
to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, it might
be a very constructive element of theological debate between
Christians and Muslims who believe in the oneness of God’.
