To honor the memory of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Ataliana
Jefferson, Rayshard Brooks, and so many other murdered,
slaughtered, lynched, enslaved, abused, Black people during
American History; to celebrate Juneteenth Day and its aftermath
and not to forget the Tulsa Race Massacre and other blooded
riots against Black people; but also to salute the great
accomplishments of so many Black people in all parts of American society
(Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., John
Hope Franklin, Oprah Winfrey, Thurgood Marshall, Hattie McDaniel,
Denzel Washington, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Jessie Jackson,
Barack Obama, etc.), The University Press of the South is creating
a new Series, to be dedicated to:
BLACK
LIVES, CULTURE, AND MEMORY STUDIES
Will be considered for publication all critical,
research-based studies on every aspect of Black lives, Black culture, and
Black memory. We also encourage submission of literary
manuscripts (biography, novel, short stories, poetry, theater,
etc.). All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by scholars or
specialists in the field.
