RENÉE FERRER is a novelist and a poet. She is the past President of the Paraguayan Academy of Spanish Language. Her first novel, Los nudos del silencio, was already translated to Italian and French. She published her second novel, Vagos de la tierra, en 1998. Her third novel, La Querida, was awarded the Premio de la Municipalidad de Asunción en 2011. One of her numerous volumes of short stories, translated to French, was published under the title, Sécheresse et autres contes, by Editions L'Harmattan in Paris, France, in 2013. Her most recent book of poetry, Ignominia, was translated from Spanish to French by French poet Alain Saint-Saëns, and was published in 2017 in France by Presses Universitaires du Nouveau Monde. Alain Saint-Saëns, as a literary critic, analyzed Renée Ferrer's poetry within his book, El trébol de cuatro hojas. Poetas paraguayos, published by University Press of the South in 2017.

 

  

BETSY PARTYKA received her Ph.D. in 20th Century Spanish-American Literature from the University of Oxford (England). She is a Professor of Spanish and Latin American Literatures and the Director of Spanish Honors Tutorial Program at Ohio University (USA).
